Hand painted vintage & antique furniture UK
Vintage and antique hand painted furniture is currently very popular in interiors and with good reason. It is very easy to live with and requires very little upkeep, unlike polished wood furniture. The lighter colours are particularly popular as they can be used in smaller rooms with great success to make a room seem bigger, and help to bounce the light around the room. It gives a room a relaxed , calm feel and adds character.
Why paint old furniture ?
Many tired pieces of old brown furniture can be given a new lease of life with the use of the correct paint technique and distressing & ageing. Often the end result will be far better and cheaper than a modern equivalent. The older furniture tend to be better made and will last longer and it is much greener to upcycle an old piece of furniture than to create a new piece. We often have items of old furniture in stock in Norfolk that are waiting to be painted, that you may purchase to either paint yourself or commission us to paint in your chosen colour.
How do you choose the colours to paint the furniture ?
We find the lighter colours are the easiest to live with and work in both period and contemporary homes. Having said that the darker colours such as Farrow and Ball Mahogany can look superb when used on the appropriate item of furniture. We recently painted some old school radiators in this colour and they look wonderful and we could not imagine them looking as good in any other colour.
Do you take commisions to paint furniture ?
We are currently in the middle of a large project and are not taking commisiiojns at this time. We are kept very busy painting our own stock of furniture however if you would like us to paint your furniture or if you have seen a piece of furniture on our website that is currently awaiting painting that you would like you to purchase then please do get in touch.
