Mid 20th Century pair of Slip Moulded Staffordshire Spaniel Style China Dogs.
- A medium size pair or predominately orange and white china King Charles Spaniels. Hand decorated in sponged and painted orange ochre and copper lustre crackle glaze with almost plain rears
- This pair is unusual in not having a chain lead molded or painted, just a collar.
- Being opposing they are a true pair. The slightly taller 7.5-inch dog stands to the right while the smaller, left hand bitch is just over 7.25-inches tall
- Both models are around 5.5-inch long
- The Dog model has a curving palpable crack around the back and while stable, does not ring at the same frequency as the bitch, suggesting the china has a crack. This is not visible from the front and is reflected in the offer price.
- Mid 20th century slip moulded examples with a recessed base plates but no true separation between the front legs and body. The impressed coat molding is also minimal as to be expected with later slip moulded examples
- One large slip moulding hole on the base plate as shown
- Date range 1930-1940
- Nicely decorated late examples
- Course crackle crazing gives a feeling of greater age
- Please note the sizes given. Sold as a pair.
